Alessandro Vicario photographed by his father Ennio, 1979.

Born in Modena in 1968, Alessandro Vicario learned the essence of photographic vision from an early age with his father Ennio, a professional photographer. He also creates performances and video installations.

He is represented by the gallery
Lab 1930. Fotografia contemporanea, Milan.

Raised and educated in Milan, he has developed a practice centred on memory, on the relationship with nature and the environment, and, more profoundly, on the very condition of photography, understood as a trace of reality mediated by light. His work, conceived in series, is distinguished by formal rigour, frontal composition and a keen attention to signs, surfaces and marginal presences.

Since 2000, he has exhibited regularly in solo and group exhibitions in Italy and abroad. His work has been published in numerous books and monographs and is held in public and private collections, including those of MUNAF – Museo Nazionale di Fotografia, Cinisello Balsamo, near Milan, and Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Cuneo.

Since 2025, he has been based in the Marche region, in a hilltop village in the province of Pesaro.
